The Hull MBA is a highly prestigious business degree offering education at an advanced level to graduates with at least three years' appropriate experience. The Business School offers the Hull MBA by distance teaching in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Oman and Singapore.

The programme is aimed at managers from a wide range of backgrounds and participants come from both private and public sectors and from manufacturing and services organisations.

Hull University Business School will handle all academic matters. Students are registered students of the University and the degree is the same MBA course provided on the home campus in the UK.

The Business School is described by Sir Digby Jones, Director General of the Confederation of British Industry, as “a world-class learning and teaching facility”.

The Hull MBA seeks to develop a sound theoretical understanding in management that is integrated with substantial case-study work in order to draw out practical relevance to your own workplace. International Accreditations

Hull University Business School leading global and regional accreditations

Here is an extract from a recent statement from Professor Mike Jackson - Dean, University of Hull Business School:

Hull University Business School's MBA programme has been accredited by the Association of MBAs - the internationally recognised global standard for all MBA programmes. AMBA accredited.

The Business School has been awarded EQUIS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development ( EFMD ) , the European Quality Assurance label that has become the leading global accreditation system for business schools.

"Hull is a well regarded UK university and has been offering high quality university education for over 75 years. The Business School was assessed by the British Government's Quality Assurance Assessment body in 2001 and was awarded a score of 23 points out of 24, which places us the "Excellent" category. Furthermore, we were awarded a score of 4 out of 5 points in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise; signalling research of national and some international excellence. Only 16 British Business Schools were awarded higher marks.

The University of Hull and MDCI has approval from the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, respectively in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman.

Our innovative MBA has a core of 13 weekend modules held normally over 18 months followed by a six month supervised dissertation which is normally focused on a student's own employment. This is the schedule for the first 18 months:

Pre-programme interview (information exchange)
Orientation: The programme is preceded by two days of induction, to introduce you to the new leading edge concepts and to help refresh your learning skills.

Your Support

The MBA is jointly managed by a professional programme team at the University of Hull and MDCI in Bahrain. In addition to your seminars and lectures you will also receive:

Textbooks and study notes
Scheduling and lecture facilities
Formation of a study group
Assignment and examination management
Student liaison and organisation
A virtual community for students, lecturers and admin.


Your Seminar and Lectures

Each module will be delivered in a 5 to 6 week cycle. This is how it works:

Every module involves 36 hours of seminars/lectures/workshops over 4 consecutive days. These seminars and lectures are conducted by visiting university faculty members and are held outside normal Gulf business hours, as far as possible.

Assessment Method

Most modules will involve a written assignment which makes up 50% of the mark and an exam which makes up the remaining 50%. For your convenience examinations, which last 90 minutes, are normally held at weekends.

Your Dissertation/Project

All students are required to complete a supervised dissertation/management project in the final term.

Your Entry Requirements

You must meet the following entry requirements

  • A good University degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum three years working experience at executive/management level
  • Sound command of the English language both written and spoken.
Note: Senior executives and business leaders without the standard entry qualifications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

You must also have access to a personal computer with an e-mail account and Internet connection and demonstrate a high motivation to complete the course.

Graduation and Award

Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded the prestigious MBA degree of the University of Hull. Graduates will be allowed to use the title MBA (Hull). The degree is exactly the same as that awarded to full time students at the main campus in the UK.

Graduation ceremonies are held in the summer and winter in Hull. MBA graduates are encouraged to attend the ceremony with their families whenever possible.

Deposits and Refunds:

On our taught programmes we cannot recruit replacements at the last minute or part way through a course, so deposits and fees are non-refundable. No-one will be allowed to commence the year's tuition if he or she has not paid all stage fees in full.

How to Apply

You can download application documents to complete and post back to us.

All applications must be submitted to the University of Hull through MDCI before the closing date. Each application must contain:
  • Fully completed application form
  • Certified copy of your degree(s), professional qualifications, certificates and relevant transcripts
  • A 200 word personal statement indicating what you hope to gain from the programme and the contribution you would make to the programme
  • Two colour passport-sized photographs
  • Two references as requested on the application form
  • Application processing fee of £100 (GBP)
